EgyptAir cancel Thailand bound flight after 'false threat alert'

EgyptAir has on Wednesday morning cancelled a Thailand bound flight after it received a false bomb threat alert.

Flight MS 960 carrying 243 passengers was due to depart for Thailand from Cairo but was delayed for three hours after the authorities at the airport received the alert.

All the passengers and baggage were evacuated and a thorough search was conducted upon which nothing was detected, EgyptAir said through a press statement.

On May 19, an EgyptAir from Paris to Cairo crashed in the Mediterranean with 66 passengers on board. The Airbus A320 disappeared from the radar screens in the middle of the night before falling into the sea between Crete and the north coast of Egypt for a reason yet to be determined.

Search teams are working against the clock to recover the two black box flight recorders that will offer vital clues to investigators, because the pingers that help locate them in deep water cease working after about 30 days.
